An element has only one type of atom.
A compound is when 2 or more elements chemically combined. For example,
Mg + O2 → Mg0
Magnesium + Oxygen = Magnesium Oxide.
Properties → Silver solid Colourless gas ----------> White solid (powder)
In science we combined magnesium with oxygen by holding spices of magnesium over a Bunsen burner on the blue flame with the air hole open. After 3-5 seconds of the magnesium in the blue flame it started to go red around the edges of the magnesium strip and then the strip of magnesium went white like you were welding (we had to look away from it or we would get welders burn) When then it stopped glowing white it stopped burning and turned into a solid white powder.
